Helman School “Artist in the School” project “My Favorite Book”

As part of an “Artist in the Schools” program at Helman Elementary School, Susan Springer visited classroom from Kindergarten to 4th grade, leading a discussion about books and “favorite books”.  The designs were developed on paper and later drawn and painted with colorful glazes on 6″ x 6″ tiles  These tiles were fired, returned to the classroom for evaluation and discussion before being permanently installed on three benches just outside the schools new library, creating a favorite book reading area.
